On Saturday 9th July 2016 in the University Museum, Angear Visitor centre, Djanogly Gallery, Rehearsal Hall and Highfields Park.
Now in its 3rd year this hugely successful regional festival will be displaying the wide and varied work taking place throughout Nottinghamshire by local history and archaeology societies, archaeological units, museums and other regional archaeological organisations. This big event will include displays, activities, handling of original material and talks.
The day is suitable for everyone including those with a general interest, people taking part in historical and archaeological work and those wanting to get involved.
Short talks on local archaeological projects
The day begins with short talks on local history and archaeology projects. Free but tickets need to be booked through the box office.

Stalls and Exhibitions
Stalls and exhibitions displaying regional historical and archaeological projects along with artefact handling and the opportunity to find out about how to volunteer.

Portable Antiquities Database and the Historic Environment Record for Nottinghamshire
Join the finds Liaison Officer for Nottinghamshire and Nottinghamshire County Council to find out what has been found in your area and also bring along finds for identification.
12noon – 4pm
Hands on Sessions with archaeological material from Nottinghamshire
Handling sessions of material from Nottinghamshire including stone artefacts, coins, pottery and animal bones from the Palaeolithic to the medieval period.

Free Event: Suitable for everyone
Join us for this new addition to the History and Archaeology Day.
Become a time traveller for the day and immerse yourself in the past! Highfields Park will be taken over by archaeological and historically themed characters, giving you the chance to meet some of our ancestors who will tell you about their life and times and demonstrate skills and crafts from the past. There will also be the chance to take part in crafts and games.
Events taking place in the Museum, Angear Visitor Centre, Djanogly Gallery and Rehearsal Hall.
