On Thursday 6 October, Pauline Lucas will be the guest speaker at the NWHG AGM at the International Community Centre on Mansfield Road, beginning at 7 pm. Pauline will be
talking about Evelyn Gibbs, the important printmaker, painter and educationalist who, along with her Goldsmith College students, was evacuated from London to Nottingham at the outbreak of the Second World War.
An artist and etcher in her own right, Pauline, as executor of the Evelyn Gibbs Estate, has co-curated the exhibition of Gibbs’ work currently being held at Nottingham Castle. Pauline
has written two books about Evelyn Gibbs and her work and was closely involved
in the project to uncover and conserve the murals painted by Evelyn in St Martin’s Church in Bilborough – until recently a gem hidden for several decades.
