Lenton Priory Project – archaeologist Gareth tells all – Wed 22 July, 7.30pm
Did you know that Old Lenton was once home to a medieval priory (a monastery), one of the most important in medieval England, and which owned property and land stretching across Lenton and beyond?
Little apparent survives above ground now – only the remnants of a pillar. But, look closely, and you can see the stone from its church (the size of Southwell Minster) reused in Priory Church of St Anthony and the Boat Inn’s beer garden wall.
Join us to hear about what was unearthed in our recent community excavation.
Wednesday 22 July, 7.30 pm, Priory Church of St Anthony, Gregory Street, Old Lenton, NG7 2NW.
Entry free, and refreshments provided.
No need to book, just turn up – but for any queries please feel very free to contact Fiona at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 0115 9588590
