St. Martins Bilborough

As part of the Hidden Treasures project at St Martin’s Church in Bilborough there will be an archaeology day on 23rd April between 10:00am and 4:00pm. This will be a FREE event networking with archaeologists from Stratascan to conduct a geo physical survey of the churchyard, looking for remains of a missing side chapel and the remains of the foundations of the original church as the current building was constructed in 1356 however, there are records of priests attached to the site as early as 1200 AD.

St Martin’s church has been restored through a HLF grant to bring it back to it’s former glory and to show of the unique 20th century murals painted by Evelyn Gibbs in 1946, for more information go to  www.stmartinsbilborough.org.uk
