On Saturday 12th November 2016 at Arnold Library commencing at 10:30 Arnold Local History Group will be marking the 100th anniversary of the Great War with a series of talks around WW1 themes from a local perspective as well as displays and discussions with invited speakers in conjunction with their exhibition ‘Arnold and the Somme’
- 10:30am The Sherwood Foresters in the Battle of the Somme presented by Ralph Lloyd-Jones
- 12:00 noon Wings over the Somme presented by Bob Massey
- 2:00pm Their Glory Shall Not Be Blotted Out – The 7th Battalion of the Green Howards in front of Fricort, July 1st 1916 presented by Steve Erskine
There will also be an additional exhibition by the Patchwork and Quilters club with their interpretations of this infamous battle, and upstairs in the Libraries ‘lecture room’ there will be further exhibits and various talks throughout the day.
