Event Navigation

The annual Evelyn Gibbs talk at St Martin’s Bilborough will take place this year on Friday 27th October 2017 at 7.30pm.

The talk, titled ‘Curating Gibbs’, will be led by Colette Griffin from Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery who will discuss the production of Evelyn Gibbs in Peace and Wartime, the 2016 exhibition she co-curated at Nottingham Castle with Gibbs specialist Pauline Lucas.

The exhibition focused on two key stages of Gibbs’ life and career, her years as a student and her time working as one of the women War Artists. Colette will also consider the trials, tribulations and delights of curating historic and contemporary art exhibitions at Nottingham Castle and other historic sites.

Colette Griffin is assistant curator at Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery. She supports the delivery of the temporary exhibitions programme, and the management and display of the City’s collections, including fine art, decorative art, costumes and textiles. Her talk will also touch on a number of other exhibitions she has worked on at Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Hall and Newstead Abbey.
