Sunday 2 July at 1.30pm meet at the main entrance of Sherwood Community Centre between 1.00pm and 1.30pm, as the building is only open for private hire on Sundays. Early arrivals will be able to see the exhibition before the tour, and there will be a short introductory talk at 1.30pm. There will be an opportunity to see the exhibition at the end. The café is not open but refreshments will be on sale
Partially hidden behind Sherwood Community Centre ’ s 20th century extensions, is the oldest house in Sherwood, Woodthorpe House which dates back to the mid – 18th Century or earlier and which has beautiful architectural features and an interesting history, having gone from being a small cottage, to a nine – bedroomed mansion , which later became WWII Army HQ, then a school annex. For 67 years, it has been known as Sherwood Community Centre. There is no charge for the guided tour, but as Sherwood Community Centre is run by a charity, donations towards refurbishments are appreciate
