At 7.45pm on Thursday 24 January 2019 at  YMCA International Community Centre 61b Mansfield Road, Nottingham NG1 3FN Tim Castledine of the Ripley & District Heritage Trust will reveal the financial and productivity benefits from the development of early hot blast technology. Did the observation, in 1829, of the benefit of blowing warm air on to a blacksmith’s forge lead to the creation of the ‘Goose that laid the Golden Egg’ for the success of the Industrial Revolution, and for the smelting of iron for the following two centuries ?
