On Saturday 21 May 2016 at Nottinghamshire Archives at 11:00am Judith Mills will give an illustrated talk on The John Player Archive Collection.
In the late 1980s John Player & Sons donated a significant collection of historic documents and artefacts to the City of Nottingham, which had been its home since the 1870s. These were split into two ‘collections’. About 20,000 items of advertising material including show cards, counter cards, original art work, packaging and photographs were given to Nottingham Museums and Galleries. The business papers, which include business correspondence, staff registers, ledgers, details of charitable activities, registration of copyright and similar items were donated to Nottinghamshire Archives. This illustrated talk will provide a taste of the wealth of material held in both collections
