On Saturday 5th November 2016 Local historian Adrian Gray will be leading a day tour based around some of the life story of John Robinson, the leader of the ‘Mayflower’ congregation, and some of his associates on Saturday 5th November. Departing from Retford and Worksop, the tour will first visit Bilborough where the very interesting church was a base for Thomas Helwys, who funded the separatists’ move to Holland and later started the Baptist denomination in England. There will be a tour of Beauvale Priory and also lunch – this being where Robinson came to marry his wife, and also the scene of some interesting incidents during the Reformation. The tour will also visit Pleasley church, where Robinson was married and which was a significant puritan enclave during much of the 1600s.
The tour costs £25 including coach and lunch. You can book places by calling 07470-366689 or email to mail@pilgrimsandprophets.co.uk
