On Saturday 3 December 2016 from 4pm–8pm wrap up warm and experience the true spirit of Christmas with the paupers and staff at The Workhouse.
The popular Victorian Workhouse Christmas event has become a traditional part of the festive season for many visitors to the National Trust property. The building is decked with foliage gathered from the hedgerows. The inmates are busy preparing for the festive season while going about their daily jobs. The pauper choir is in fine voice and the local brass band, Essentially Brass, provides a rousing accompaniment. Children can create stocking fillers, paper lanterns, decorations and Christingle oranges at craft sessions. Everyone can enjoy hot seasonal refreshments and carol singing. The shop will be open for any last-minute Christmas purchases.
This year we invite visitors to reflect on the spirit of generosity at Christmas and are encouraging people to bring a gift of non-perishable food as a food bank contribution.
The event is free to members but everyone needs to book as numbers are limited, non-members £4 per person.
Please call 0844 2491895 to book your place (5% booking fee applies to priced tickets).
