On Thursday 11th May 2017, 10.45 am start from Ilkeston station, there will be a guided walk by the East Midlands Group of the Railway and Canal Historical Society (RCHS) from the newly opened Ilkeston station to Kimberley.
A 5-mile walk from Ilkeston Station, formerly Ilkeston Junction Station, to Kimberley via the Nottingham Canal and the track-bed of the former Great Northern Railway Derbyshire Extension line. Meet at Ilkeston Station for a 10.45 am start. Final port of call for the walk is the Nelson and Railway pub in Kimberley for a pub lunch – meals served until 2.30 pm. Orders for meals will be taken en-route and phoned through to the pub along with an expected arrival time. Return to Ilkeston station (if required) is by Trent Barton 27 service (service every 30 minutes). Walk leader is Jeff Smith (01159) 731291.
